Create a new SQL Server database, create ODBC entry for the data warehouse, install the WhereScape Metadata Repository , update the options and user preferences and validate the metadata.

You will understand the WhereScape Administrator options and preferences required to create a new data warehouse.

Here you will learn how to use WhereScape to create various data warehouse objects. These objects will be used for the Validation and Report sections of the class.

Create the following objects in the data warehouse using WhereScape RED:
- Connections
- Load tables
- Stage tables
- Dimensions
- Dimension Views
- Fact table
- Stored procedure

You will be able to create various objects using the WhereScape RED interface in your data warehouse.

How to install and choose the best options for your WhereScape RED Scheduler.

Install the Scheduler and validate the installation.

You will understand the options and requirements to install a WhereScape RED Scheduler.

Introduction to the two different ways of creating a WhereScape RED job. We will also teach you how to setup alerts and troubleshoot job failures.
Lab
Create a job from the data warehouse tasks, run the job and find out how to find any task failures, how to setup the Database Mail function, update the job to include the use of the email notification upon job failure.
Outcome
You will understand the WhereScape RED scheduled job and how you can setup email notification upon job failure.

In this session you will learn how to use the inbuilt WhereScape RED validation options to verify that the data warehouse objects have been defined correctly.

Validate all aspects of your data warehouse and learn how to fix the identified issues.

You will understand the validation options inbuilt in WhereScape.
Lesson
WhereScape has inbuilt Report options which are used to understand all the objects in a data warehouse.
Lab
Update the User Preferences to be able to output the reports to file, use the report options to understand the data warehouse and how to create both Groups and Projects in the metadata.
Outcome
You will understand how to create data warehouse reports to assist the developers and architects.
Lesson
Introduction to the concept of copying data warehouse objects between Development, UAT and Production environments and how to create and use a WhereScape Application Package.
Lab
Create an application package from the development environment, create a new data warehouse for user acceptance testing including creating the metadata repository and install the application package on the new environment.
Outcome
You will understand how to create an application package and migrate data warehouse objects to the next environment ( Development, UAT, Production).
Lesson
Learn how to upgrade your data warehouse to a new version of WhereScape software.
Lab
Install WhereScape V8.3.1 to your AWS instance so that you are able to run multiple versions, if necessary. Upgrade both the development and user acceptance testing environments to the new version of WhereScape, validate the metadata and run the scheduled job as a final check.
Outcome
You will understand how to upgrade to a newer version of WhereScape and how to upgrade the data warehouse.
