You will be provided with data and hands-on exercises to cover the course content.

COURSE CONTENT

Lesson

Learn about the Alteryx Server Architecture and in particular what the different modules such as the Web Browser, Gallery, Controller, Scheduler, Persistence and Worker do, how they integrate and how they can be scaled.

Outcome

You will learn the various components of Alteryx Server and how they work together and what they can be used for.

Lesson

Learn how to install Alteryx Server, including the licensing.

For the Configuration we look at all the different setup options for Environment, Controller, Worker, Gallery and Engine. Each of these sections has multiple windows, for Environment we look at the different Setup Types and the Workspace, for Controller it is General, Persistence and Mapping, with Worker we see General, Run As …, Mapping and Insights, in the Gallery we have General, Authentication, SMTP and Persistence and finally Engine has the General window.

From a scaling perspective you will learn about how to add worker nodes and the configuration required.

Lab

The exercise is to install and configure the Alteryx Server.

Outcome

You will find out how to install the Alteryx Server and understand all of the configuration options.

Lesson

Learn about the Alteryx Designer Scheduler, including how to schedule a workflow and to view workflows, schedules, the queue and results.

Lab

The exercise adds a workflow to your Alteryx Designer scheduler and includes viewing, checking results and fixing a workflow before re-scheduling and running.

Outcome

You will understand how to schedule a workflow using the Alteryx Designer Scheduler and how to view the workflows and their results in the scheduler.

Lesson

With the Alteryx Gallery you will look at the architecture, understand what can be published to the gallery, check the different tabs including Private Studio, Districts and Collections. You will also find out about Subscriptions, My Company’s Gallery, Tags, Permissions, Profile Settings, Members, Notifications and Keys.

We look at the Alteryx Gallery pages including HOME page, DISTRICTS, PRIVATE STUDIO, INSIGHTS, COLLECTIONS, WORKFLOW RESULTS and SCHEDULES.

There are also recommendations for Alteryx Roles and Credentials along with an explanation of versioning workflows.

Lab

The gallery exercise includes setting up your user settings, enabling users to schedule workflows, scheduling a workflow and checking the result, creating a tag and a district. From Designer publish a workflow on the server, add a tag and then on server check to ensure that you can see the workflow in the district and in your private studio. Finally you get to create a collection and add a workflow to it.

Outcome

You will understand the Alteryx Gallery pages, options and by able to publish a workflow to the server and schedule it in the gallery.

Lesson

Learn about the Alteryx Server Administration options such as Subscriptions, Users, User Roles, Workflows, Districts, Data Connections, Workflow Credentials, Jobs, Media, Theme, Pages, Links and Notifications.

We look at the Alteryx Gallery API which you may use to productionise your workflows and distribute them to your user community. You may also use webpages along with the Alteryx Gallery API to interact with Analytic Apps on your Alteryx Gallery.

Finally, we look at the Server Monitoring options utilising an Alteryx workflow which uses the MongoDB Input tool and we see the results in both Tableau workbook and PDF form.

Lab

The Server Administration exercise uses the Alteryx Server Administration options to add a new subscription, add a new user, add a new workflow, create a district, create a data connection, check the job status, scheduled workflows and to schedule the workflow, check the theme page, save an image and use it as the site logo and to add a system message.

Outcome

You will understand how to administer the Alteryx Server including an understanding of all of the available options. Also provided is information about a potential scheduling issue caused by changing the authentication type and ways to fix it.
