1. Connect your spatial file

You can download the spatial file here. The folder will contain the following files, make sure these are all contained in the same folder.

Let’s make a relationship by dragging in the ‘HexState.shp’ file into tableau

  

2. Create a Map

Start by double clicking on ‘geometry’

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the toolbar click into ‘Map and then ‘background maps’

Unmark all the boxes in the Map Layers

Your canvas should look like this

If you want spacing between your tiles, then select ‘None’ in the ‘background map’

 

 

 

 

 

 

It should come out like this

Simply remove box axis’ and the grid like in your formatting

At the Mark card change from automatic à Map

Readjust the sizes of the tiles

And voilà, after some further calculations you can end up with a product like below
