Display landing dashboard only and hide other dashboards from workbook on Tableau Server

This post was originally published on The Data School blog between 2018 and July 2025, before our program was renamed to MIP’s Analytics Career Accelerator. References throughout this article to “The Data School” or “DS” all refer to what is now MIP’s Analytics Career Accelerator. The program, its people, and its commitment to launching outstanding analytics careers remain the same – just under a new name.

In some situations when there are a few dashboards in a tableau workbook, having a landing page is a good option to let users navigate between dashboards easily. However, the users new to the tableau server probably would be confused when they notice not only the landing page dashboard but many other dashboards displayed on the server. Is there a way to only show the landing page dashboard and let the users navigate to other dashboards from this landing page? Keep reading, this blog might be helpful.

Step 1. Firstly, we’ll have a landing page ready. See the example landing page dashboard below, I put 3 pictures for navigating to 3 dashboards.

Step 2. Complete the dashboards. In this case, I just did 3 single-chart dashboards as an example.

Step 3. Publish the Landing Page dashboard to the server.

Step 4. Publish other dashboards to the server.
