We had a very interesting challenge on the day 2 of the dashboard week to analyse Major basketball league data. The reason i find it interesting is due to fact that i have very less knowledge on this particular sport . However , I realized the common points for sports remain the say . i.e, you play , there are wins & losses and players get paid in salary for their performance . Hence i have taken these elements as a crux of my dashboard story.

First , I have grabbed salaries , teams and players table and joined them with the respective id’s in alteryx . This helped me gain a perspective that for a team , i have got players and salaries . However , I am aware of the fact that there could be duplicates win and losses and every team has several players in the data set . I overcame this by using the level of detailed expression in tableau. These are very powerful and rightly fit in my context. Another data set baseball batting had similar issue of duplicating the values , to overcome this i used the concept of data blending in tableau

I have then analysed the top 10 players by salary using a bump chart show casing different years. This helps us gain a visual perspective on which players are highly paid in which years and how they have shifted up or down in the ladder. I have also analysed spending of the team salary along with spending vs wins in a scatter plot to identify the outliers.
