Dashboard Week – Season Finale

This post was originally published on The Data School blog between 2018 and July 2025, before our program was renamed to MIP’s Analytics Career Accelerator. References throughout this article to “The Data School” or “DS” all refer to what is now MIP’s Analytics Career Accelerator. The program, its people, and its commitment to launching outstanding analytics careers remain the same – just under a new name.

The final day of dashboard week is upon us! Today we were given data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The data received was about the prices of agricultural goods.

Data Preparation

The data we were given was given in a cleaned state so there was no need to work there. I did grab supplementary data about the emissions of producing meat and meat products.

The Dashboard

The dashboard looks at the environmental impacts of producing meat and certain animal food products. It particularly focuses on the benefits of consuming chicken as a source of meat over other sources of meat.

Reflection

After the intense week my thoughts of it are as follows:

Was it difficult? Yeah

Was it enjoyable? Yeah

Should you fear it? Nah

Would I do it again? Maybe not consecutively, but sure why not.

For the most part, I tried to have as much fun with is as possible. It may have backfired on me on some days but for me it made the experience much more enjoyable.
