Initial Chart Setup:
Begin by creating a line chart, for this example we will be displaying Sales over Month by Category.
Utilizing Pages for Dynamic Display:
To avoid visual clutter, use Pages to make the chart more comprehensible. Right-click and drag the time measure (Months in this case) to the Pages shelf to duplicate it there.
Configuring Pages for Animation:
After duplicating the time measure into Pages, change the chart type to a circle.
Access the box containing time parameters (created when adding the field to Pages). Open the dropdown menu “Show History”.
Within “Show History”, navigate to “Marks to Show History for” and select “All”. Then, under “Show”, choose “Both” to display Marks and Trails.
Initiating Dynamic Animation:
With the configured settings, click on the play button. The chart will dynamically showcase month-by-month values, providing an animated representation of the data’s behaviour over time.
